A smartbook is not a netbook and not a mini laptop, it may look like one but it’s not (well not really). A smartbook is a mobile device that fits between smartphones and netbook’s. Imagine your smartbook growing into the size of netbook and that is what a smartbook is.
Smartbook's features are based around smartphones, giving people a larger smarphone in a netbook form factor. Giving you the option of having phone functions on a larger device.
Some of the features you will familiar with are always on, all-day battery life, 3G connectivity, GPS in a slightly larger device with a full keyboard. Smartbook’s do not come with full versions of Windows OS they will be mobile platforms.
A lot of people say smartbook’s are what netbook’s should have been, the Nokia booklet 3G looks like a smartbook but it runs on Windows 7, it does get a grey area when it comes to what is a netbook or smartbook and with manufacturers increasing the specification on both device types I see the market becoming even more confusing.
Smartbook’s are likely to be sold initially through mobile network operators, like mobile phones are today, along with a wireless data plan.
What does the future hold, smartphones -> smartbooks -> netbooks -> notebooks
