Google Chrome netbook compatibility list

Tuesday, 01 December 2009 09:31

Looks like Google have got round to updating their Google Chrome comptability list. If you are planing or wanting to get a new netbook and want to be able to use Google Chrome have click readmore to see the full list.  If your netbook is not there, don't worry as they only list the systems that can run the unmodified Chromium OS source code. It highlights which functionality works and which is broken for the netbooks tested so far. For instance, only those netbooks using the Atheros wireless module will work, the Broadcom module will not.

Dell brings Chrome OS to its Netbook

Tuesday, 01 December 2009 09:27
You might remember a while back we posted an article about Dell and a few others planning on bringing Google Chrome out on their netbooks, well Dell has released an experimental version of Google's Chrome OS adapted for its own Dell Mini 10v netbook.  Earlier this month, Google released the source code underlying the Chrome OS browser-based operating system; the first version of the software won't be complete until 2010, when it will become available only when purchased on a computer. But because it is open-source software, others can sample it today if they're willing to build it themselves.  For more information visit http://news.cnet.com/8301-30685_3-10406318-264.html

Should netbooks have DVD drives?

Monday, 16 November 2009 10:26

Should netbooks have internal DVD drives? It seems to be a major factor for a lot of people that I have spoken to when it comes to getting a netbook or a laptop.  In my experience a major factor for a lot of people is to be able to watch movies etc when they travel and most don’t want to rip their DVD’s to their netbooks or do not know how to do this. When advised about and external DVD drive most did not like the idea of having to carry an external netbook DVD drive.

What’s your opinion?

Some interesting news from Chris Davies from Slash Gear about Apple maybe blocking support of Atom on OS X 10.6.2 correctly, in a move that is being seen as a strike against not only those individual consumers using the software on non-official machines, but against companies such as Psystar who attempt to sell OS X based non-Apple computers.

The people on slashgear have an interesting article about Kohjinsha dual-display netbook detailed in video demo. After watching the video i must admit it does look very smart, as a can amateur photographer I can see this coming in very handy for displaying a lot of high resolution landscape shots.
